This unnamed water spirit is a character that appears in both "Chapter 7:The Beast of Cauldron Island" plus "Hilda and the Ghost Ship".
Appearance[]
The water spirit looks like pretty much every other Water Spirit; a blob of water with black, glowing white eyes. The spirit can also form a protective bubble for others to ride in when going under water.
Biography[]
Animated series[]
The water spirit lives in the Björgfjord. In "Chapter 7: The Beast of Cauldron Island", Hilda and Alfur Aldric use a conch shell to summon the spirit to give them, Frida, David and Wood Man a ride to Cauldron Island to warn the Lindworm that Erik Ahlberg is coming for her, since he believes her to be responsible for the sinking of various ships in the fjord. Once on the island, Wood Man, who is revealed to speak the Water Spirit's native language, asks the spirit to bring him, Frida and Hilda to the bottom of the fjord to find out what is truly sinking the ships. The spirit thus shapeshifts herself into a bubble that the three can ride in.
While navigating the fjord, they encouter a Draugen Captain and eventually learn that a Kraken is sinking the ships. When Ahlberg arrives with his fleet and the Kraken attacks them, the girls and the water spirit get caught in the crossfire. The Kraken lashes out at them wiht a tentacle, causing the water spirit to drop Hilda and Frida and flee the scene. The spirit is not seen again after this.
Novelization[]
The events from "Chapter 7: The Beast of Cauldron Island" are adapted into the book "Hilda and the Ghost Ship", but the water spirit has a significantly smaller role in the story than it has in the episode. The spirit does not appear until after Frida, Hilda and Wood Man are already on Cauldron Island, since they used Wood Man's boat, the Nautilus, to get there. And instead of giving the girls a ride to the bottom of the fjord, the spirit gives them bubble helmets to breathe under water but does not accompany them.
