Hilda's World
In "Hilda and the Laughing Merman"
Hilda, Johanna and Twig hide from the Spider Frog.
Three of the creature's legs in the season 3 opening sequence.
The beast awoke upon hearing Johanna playing the panpipes.
About to grab Hilda.
Bringing Hilda into its cave.
The Spider Frog produces a sticky web.
...To wrap Hilda up.
Then stores her for later.
As it won't feast until its captures Johanna next.
And seals her in the cave.
Johanna hides from the beast.
When it heard something nearby.
...And heads in that direction.
The Spider Frog thinks it found Johanna.
Lucily, it was just her jacket.
Realizing that it's prey is now escaping.
The Spider Frog shoots web.
Johanna threw all of the charms at the Spider Frog.
Which initially, seemed to have worked for a moment.
...However, it still caught up with them nonetheless.
Twig attacks the Spider-Frog
But he's no match for it.
The Beast has Hilda in its grasp with Johanna barely holding on.
And successfully eats them both in one gulp.
However, it soon felt sick afterwards.
...And barfed.
Turns out it doesn't like the taste of humans.
It recognizes Johanna.
So since they're not food, it decides to be "friends" with them instead.
The Spider Frog has no words for what it is.
The beast leaves and returns back into the forest.
The Spider Frog has a cameo in Chapter 8: The Fairy Isle; during one of Johanna's flashbacks.
