Myrkr is an ancient Giant who appears in the graphic novels, the animated series and the novelizations.
Myrkr was believed by ancient humans to be associated with ill health and bad omens. Despite this, he was terribly nice and a bit of a practical joker.
Appearance[]
Myrkr had a shadowy appearance, with his extremely long neck being his most defining feature.
Biography[]
Graphic novels[]
In "Hilda and the Midnight Giant", Myrkr is seen in a 1-panel flashback, and on a two-page image depicting the giants of old. He plays no direct part in any of the stories as the giants left Earth long ago by the time the graphic novel is set.
Animated series[]
In "Chapter 2: The Midnight Giant", Myrkr is again seen in a flashback, and in Wood Man's book "The Giants of Old".
In "Chapter 3: The Giantslayer", Hilda and Wood Man meet the ancient giants after traveling 3000 years into the past. Myrkr is one of them. He is first seen in a valley, and later when attending a meeting with the other giants where they decide they have to leave the Earth. At the end of the episode, they follow up on this decision and leap off the planet into space.
Tie-in series[]
The events of "Chapter 3: The Giantslayer" are adapted into "Hilda and the Faratok Tree". While Myrkr is not mentioned by name in the text, he is seen on an image depicting 13 giants, and on another image later in the same book. He was among the 18 giants that attended the council held by Aldinn and Sigmund, where the giants decided to leave the Earth. When Halvor and his army attack the giants, they leap off the Earth one by one. Myrkr included.
