Johanna's car is vehicle that was owned by Johanna in both the graphic novel series and the animated series. It got destroyed during the movie.

Description[]

It was a dark-yellow colored car that has been in her possessions since some time before the start of the series. She used to drive between her and Hilda's old house in the forest and Trolberg for work and groceries. Later, when Johanna and Hilda went to live in Trolberg, the car is also used for them to get around town and is parked outside their new apartment.

Besides the animated series, this version of the car also appeared in the graphic novel series, most prominently "Hilda and the Mountain King". In that story, the car got destroyed by a troll fight between Hilda and Trundle's brother, which Hilda won. This scene is also included in the movie.

Trivia[]

  • In the graphic novels, the car is a British model with the steering wheel on the right side, while in the animated series it has the steering wheel on the left side.
  • The car got seriously damaged three times in the series. The first time when a possessed Johanna drove it of a small cliff at the coast in "Chapter 8: The Tide Mice". Later at the end of "Chapter 13: The Black Hound" it got destroyed again, but more serious when it was launched out of the Nowhere Space of the outside world. It was repaired afterwards. In Hilda and the Mountain King (movie) it got destroyed again after a group of Trolls attacked Johanna while she searched for Hilda. This time the car was destroyed beyond repair.
  • Director Andy Coyle confirmed in a interview that the car was destroyed and wouldn't come back in season three. According to him, some parts of the car are now taken and in possession of the troll that collects car parts, as seen in the movie. [1]
  • The car striking resembles a Trabant 601.
  • The car's destruction is brought up in "Chapter 5: The Job", when Anders asks Hilda if her mom has a car he can borrow for his job for The Polecat, and she tells him no because a troll stepped onto it. The Polecat finds the story funny and tells Hilda they should always get the troll insurance.
  • The events from the movie are not adapted into any of the tie-in books, but for some reason Johanna still buys a new car in "Hilda and the Laughing Merman".
