Hár is one of the ancient Giants.
Appearance[]
Hár was by far the tallest giant that ever lived. Even Jorgen and Aldinn barely reached up to his waist. He had a long beard.
Biography[]
Hár was the oldest of the last generation of giants, and by far the largest. His ancient beard was home to a thriving alien ecosystem. Many of the stranger creatures that wander the Earth first appeared when they tumbled out of it.
Like all the giants, he left the Earth long ago after a war with humans.
Role in the series[]
- In the graphic novels, Hár only appears on a two-page image at the back of the book, which depicts the giants of old. He plays no direct part in any of the stories. He is so tall he cannot fully be depicted on the image, which only shows him up to his torso.
- In the animated series, a similar image of him is seen in Wood Man's book "The Giants of Old" in the episode "Chapter 2: The Midnight Giant".
Trivia[]
- In "Hilda's Book of Beasts and Spirits", the section about giants also depicts Hár, but there are quite some inconsistencies with the animated series and graphic novel. In this image he is no taller than Jorgen, and his beard is much shorter, making him look more like Aldinn with brown fur. And since Aldinn is not featured on the image, it is likely the two were mixed up. A note supposedly written by Hilda herself states that she heard Woff came from his beard, but that might be a tall tale. Which it indeed is as "Hilda and the Fairy Village" states Woff came from Fairy Country.
- Hár did not appear in "Chapter 3: The Giantslayer".
- In "Hilda and the Faratok Tree", after the Faratok tree sends her 3000 years into the past, Hilda meets the ancient giants. She attends their Grand Council meeting where 18 giants gather. It is left unclear if Hár is one of them as he is not depicted on any of the images nor called by name in the text.
