Einarr is an ancient Giant who appears in the graphic novels, the animated series and the novelizations.
According to the graphic novels, Einarr was fascinated by how he could affect the landscape. He would spend his nights editing rivers, moving rocks and replanting trees, just to see how the people would react in the morning.
Appearance[]
Einarr is a giant with black fur. He has a relatively small head compared to his body.
In the animated series he has a tree on his right shoulder; something he lacks in all other depictions of him.
Biography[]
Graphic novels[]
In the graphic novels, Einarr is only seen on a two-page image in "Hilda and the Midnight Giant" depicting the giants of old. He plays no direct part in any of the stories as the giants left Earth long ago by the time the graphic novel is set.
Animated series[]
Einarr appears in "Chapter 2: The Midnight Giant" in a book from the Wood Man about the giants of old. He is seen here interacting with a Forest Giant.
He also appears in "Chapter 3: The Giantslayer" after Hilda and Wood Man travel 3000 years back in time because of the Faratok tree. He is among the giants that, after a failed attempt by Kald and Halldór to rescue Drib from Halvor, decide they should leave the Earth. Even after Drib is freed, the giants still follow up on their decision. Einarr is the last one to go. Hilda tries to talk him out of it one last time, but he bids her goodbye and then leaps off the Earth. He almost drags Hilda with him into space, but she is saved by Wood Man and a Woff.
Novelization[]
The events of "Chapter 3: The Giantslayer" are adapted into "Hilda and the Faratok Tree". Einarr has a larger role here; he is among the giants that attack Halvor and his army to help Drib escape. In the fight, Einarr uses his finger to direct the water from a spring on top of a mountain directly to the attacking humans. The water wrecks most of their catapults, winning the giants the battle. However, it is clear from his expression that Einarr hated having to do this, and he sorrowfully watches the wreckage he caused.
He then attends a meeting of the giants. Here, the giants decide the Earth has become too small for them and they should move into space. Hilda tries to convince the giants otherwise, but a second attack by Halvor and his troops proves the final straw and one by one the giants leap off the Earth, Einarr included.
