Hilda is having fun with her aunt.
Then she loses sight of her aunt near a mysterious hill.
Then the hill turns on her, and traps her with mushrooms.
Fortunately, it was all just a dream.
Maybe reading about Fairy Mounds before bedtime was not such a good idea.
Hilda is late for breakfast, and Frida is worried.
David and Frida want to go souvenir shopping. Astrid directs them to a good shop.
So that is where they go.
Hilda waits outside. She has other plans.
She is convinced Tofoten has actual fairies.
And she wants to find them, so she questions several locals.
But she gets a lot of contradicting information.
But they do warn Hilda that Fairies can abduct you to Fairy country, never to be seen again.
Hilda finds a tourist map about a Fairy Trail.
Which leads to a Fairy Mound
But it is just a fake one made for tourists.
Frida and David are not convinced Fairies exist. Hilda herself is unsure why she is so determined to find them.
There’s one more lead Hilda wants to try.
The owner is quite grumpy.
And angrily orders Hilda to leave when she dares to ask about Fairies.
Fortunately, Astrid comes to Hilda’s aid.
She assures Hilda the fairies are just something they made up for tourists.
That night, Astrid takes her guests camping.
Hilda finds a large group of fireflies.
She asks her mom why she left Tofoten. Johanna claims she outgrew it.
It’s hard for her to explain why she never moved back to Tofoten after having Hilda.
It’s time to get to sleep, but Hilda notices someone walking outside her tent and follows.
The cloaked figure crosses a broken bridge.
Hilda has to be quiet to stay unnoticed.
The figure is performing some sort of ritual near a hill.
The following morning, Hilda is bothered by what she saw.
So she takes her friends to the hill, which she thinks is an actual Fairy Mound.
Hilda removes some of the charms.
The girls decide to leave, but David is suddenly gone.
Johanna and Astrid are spending some time together in Tofoten.
She can tell Johanna is worried, but assures her there has been no “incident” since Johanna left Tofoten.
They catch some Huldrefish.
Hilda and Frida are still looking for David, and it’s getting foggy.
They find him. Turns out he was looking for them too.
Astrid and Johanna return home.
Then the Pooka visits. He wants to borrow a casserole dish in return for telling Johanna where Hilda and her friends went.
Johanna is shocked to hear Hilda and friends went to the Fairy Mound.
The kids are still lost, and something is approaching them.
Flying, tentacled, one-eyes mushrooms!
Johanna arrives at the fairy mound.
Hilda and friends try their best to avoid the mushrooms.
Astrid also arrives with spades. Johanna is furious Astrid didn’t tell her there is still an actual fairy mound in Tofoten.
The mushrooms find Hilda and friends.
But then something causes the ground to shake.
And something causes Frida and David to vanish.
Hilda alone remains behind, and two cloaked figures approach her.
Then something grabs Hilda.
Fortunately, it’s Johanna, who pulled Hilda out of the Fairy Mound.
They return to Astrid’s home.
Johanna is still mad, while Hilda demands an explanation.
Johanna confesses something similar happened to her when she was young.
Astrid adds that Hilda and friends were just in the outer part of Fairy Country. Had Fairy Isle found them, they would have been lost.
Hilda still had a great time.
Something is still going on at the Fairy Mound.
