Hilda and David are helping Frida with her witch-homework.
Hilda would rather perform magic than study it.
Frida’s attempt to make a Jort invisible ends up turning the Jort into a pair of elf-sized shorts.
The next spell requires dust from the Trolberg Castle Ruins, which Frida doesn’t have.
So Hilda volunteers to get some.
Hilda plans to give Frida the dust after dinner
However, Johanna has other plans. She bought a new boardgame and hopes to have a nice evening with Hilda.
The news report that more and more Troll bonfires are seen on the mountain. According to Erik Ahlberg, the Trolls are plotting something.
When Hilda insists on going back to Frida’s, she and Johanna get into an argument.
Which ends with Hilda getting send to her room. Hilda angrily wishes she was a troll so she could live free in the wild.
Hilda is determined to go to Frida’s, and blackmails Tontu into helping her.
So Tontu agreed, as he and Hilda are about to head into nowhere space.
But Johanna catches them in the act as she grabs Hilda.
And tries to pull her back.
They all end up getting sucked into the outside world’s Nowhere Space.
Hilda, Johanna and Twig end up in the Stone Forest.
And since it’s unlikely Tontu will find them (he could be halfway around the world now), they have to find their own way out.
Johanna suggests spending the night here; hopefully they can find their way when the sun is up.
The following morning, David, Frida and Alfur come to check where Hilda is.
They find the house deserted, while the car is still parked outside.
Frida decides to retrace Hilda’s steps to the castle ruin, but David is no fan of that plan.
Meanwhile, in the Stone Forest, it’s still dark.
As Frida and David make their way to the ruins, they come across many petrified trolls.
Not far from them, Erik Ahlberg and Gerda Gustav are on patrol with their zeppelin.
They spot Frida and David.
Who, by now, realize they are lost.
Then Frida spots some sleeping woff, including a rare white one. Which means good luck for witches.
But in her case, it’s bad luck; she ends up startling them, and they collide with the zeppelin.
And explodes. Fortunately, Erik and Gerda make it out in time.
Hilda and Johanna are still lost. Johanna nearly falls into a chasm.
While Hilda is certain they can jump across, Johanna insists on using a safer path.
As they follow the sound of running water, they find a chamber full of Trolls.
They try to get closer to the water without being seen.
But while the adult troll doesn’t see them, her baby does.
Johanna tries to defend Hilda and bravely stares down the Troll
Which she only keeps up for so long. They have to run.
When she loses track of the humans, the troll returns to her daughter.
Hilda and Johanna are hiding between the cargo carried by the Troll’s goat.
Frida has hurt her foot. David bandages it up.
While Erik and Gerda salvage the emergency blimp kit from the wreck of the zeppelin.
But since it will take a few hours to build, they spend the night in the woods.
When a group of Trolls finds them, Erik uses his bell, which only pisses the trolls off.
Frida tries to make Erik invisible so the Trolls won’t find him.
But accidentally turns Erik into a bug instead.
At least it frightens the Trolls.
Gerda puts him in a jar, for now.
Luck is on Hilda and Johanna’s side; the troll unknowingly takes them out of the forest.
It turns out the Trolls are just camping.
Then the Two-Headed troll shows up and violently disturbs the camping.
Hilda and Johanna make a run for it.
But Twig gets stuck, and is taken back into the Stone Forest when the Two-Headed troll steals the goat.
Johanna orders Hilda to stay behind a rock while she will try to save Twig.
Johanna follows the Troll to his home.
But the troll closes the door and falls asleep in front of it, thus blocking their way out.
Hilda can’t wait any longer.
She finds the troll’s lair, but can’t enter.
Both Johanna and Hilda have to find another way out/in.
Hilda finds a hatch, but it is locked.
While Johanna tries to reach a hole near the ceiling.
She accidentally knocks down some items, but the noise fails to wake up the troll.
Hilda tricks a rock-chewing slug to bite through the padlock for her.
The Two-Headed Troll wakes up and finds Johanna.
Fortunately, Hilda manages to open the Hatch.
Which allows Johanna and Twig to escape.
They land in the water they saw earlier.
But now they’re lost again.
Even as a bug, Erik is arrogant.
Frida admits they where looking for Hilda, and didn’t have much fate in the Safety Patrol to help them. Gerda can understand why.
Hilda and Johanna run into the female Troll and her baby again.
While the Two-Headed troll is right behind them.
Surprisingly, the Female Troll rescues them by taking the humans to her home.
The young Troll takes a liking to Twig.
Johanna and Hilda are safe for now.
Gerda, David and Frida build themselves a small campfire. They make the most of their situation.
When a troll shows up, Gerda attempts to defend the children.
However, the Troll gladly leaves them alone in return for David’s bag of Jorts.
He even joins them at the fire. Maybe Trolls are not so bad.
In the Stone Forest, Hilda and Johanna enjoy the female troll’s hospitality.
Hilda and the young troll even make stone figures of themselves.
The troll offers them blankets for the night.
At home, Alfur is still waiting for news.
Then Tontu finally returns home.
He took a few wrong turns along the way.
Resulting in unpleasant surprises for both him and others.
Fortunately, Tontu knows where Hilda and Johanna ended up.
Alfur borrows the pigeon Cedric from the Lost Clan to search for Hilda and Johanna.
In the woods, the troll begins to petrify as David, Frida and Gerda wake up.
Alfur finds them. While Gerda can’t see him, she recognizes his voice.
In the stone forest, the troll draws a map for Johanna.
She also magically creates a woff-shaped guide for them.
Until the Two- Headed troll shows up again and crushes their guide.
This time, the troll manages to capture them.
The other trolls admire his courage, and join the fight.
By the time the Two-Headed troll breaks free, Hilda and Johanna have fled into a tunnel full of Rock-Chewing Slugs. The Troll is afraid to follow them there.
But the tunnel is no safe place for the two humans; there is something even worse in here.
A gigantic slug! It causes as cave-in that temporarily stops the Two-Headed Troll.
It’s getting too much for Johanna
Hilda admits she was worried about Johanna. Mother and daughter finally come to an understanding.
Twig senses something. They begin to dig, and find a way out.
Hilda is the first to escape.
The Two-Headed Troll is not done with them yet.
Johanna escapes just in time.
And when the Troll follows them, he petrifies.
But the danger is not over; the petrified Troll rolls off the mountain and threatens to crush Johanna.
Gerda, Frida and David rescue her with the emergency blimp
Now Hilda and Twig are the ones in danger.
They have no choice but to jump off a cliff.
They get caught by the white woff. Everybody is safe.
Gerda brings Johanna and Hilda home.
Hilda finally gets to give Frida the dust.
With the dust, Frida can turn Ahlberg back to a human.
It works. Ahlberg hasn’t even noticed he was a bug.
He immediately wants to get the press involved, and make himself look like the hero who saved David and Frida.
Gerda has enough of his attitude however, and escorts David and Frida out of the room.
Hilda and Johanna get home safe and sound.
But the female troll is up to something.
Hilda and Johanna finally reconcile with each other, so all's well that ends well, right?
The following day, Hilda has suddenly been replaced by a human version of the Troll child.
While Hilda herself is back in the Stone Forest...and has been turned into a troll.
