If the graphic novel ends at The Mountain King. I won't mind. The ending with trolls and humans living in peace is the best ending scenario in my opinion. It wraps up the "person and nature" theme of the series and puts Hilda as the hero who put the ages old conflict to rest.
Since people also talk about the Netflix show, I also don't mind if the show ends at season 2, with the Mountain King as the finale, because of the same reason above.

Eh, everyone in this series can cast spells. Nisses can warp through spaces and time, the Elves are intangible, the Giants can lift-off to the skies, and the Trolls can cast fires from thin air. Maybe everyone can use magic, I dunno...
